Taking The Risk Out Of Outsourcing Copywriting

How to Sell With an Article

It’s easy – fill it with some content about the product, stuff it with keywords, rapid-fire it with an article submission software to 999 article directories…and your product will start selling like hot-cakes!

Almost 99% of those who engage in article writing will prescribe you this ‘simple’ solution.

They believe that an article is, to a large extent, a generalized marketing tool, just enough to disseminate some information about the product. Rather than being a sales aide, this group is of the opinion that the true value of an article lies in its fetching back links to your site.

Well, their views are not entirely misplaced. In fact, there are some directories that do not permit articles endorsing particular products or those replete with sales overtones.

But, relax! This is nothing like the ‘eternal sermon’.

The good news is that if you have the style, your articles can also briskly sell.

In fact, an article is as good as a well-written sales copy, and can be equally effective in turning prospects into clients.

Now, how does that happen?

The logic is pretty straightforward. When a person visits the web, he has an issue in his mind for which he is searching for more information. The search engine returns him the most relevant pages, and he browses them one by one until he has his needs almost completely met.

In the course of this process, he may land on generic articles containing very generalized information. "It is hardly possible to think of modern life without stress…stress causes stiffness of muscles…the best way to avoiding stress is doing some meditation…medications are rather useless in the long-term and have dependency effects"…blah, blah, blah…

There are millions of articles like this on the web. (Sometimes, I pity those webmasters who engage writers to create articles with generic content on these topics, of which there are already millions or may be even billions on the Web, ready to be accessed!)

For a regular visitor, these articles are boring, to say the least.

Now, imagine, you hit a line like this while searching for "stress" -

“People who stress out have 367% higher chances of getting cancer”

What would be your reaction? Can you ignore the article?

Now, as you start reading, you discover something like this – “Stress affects your immunity and immensely increases the risk of your falling chronically ill. Some studies have associated stress with a higher risk for cancer. The development of tumors and the metastasis of tumors are supposed to be caused by stress-induced activation of inflammatory pathways. Even resistance to chemotherapy for cancer treatment has also been related to stress”, you are grabbed by the article and you are encouraged to finish reading it with focused attention.

This article is giving you unique information, and if there is a citation in the article, such as a reference to research, scientific study, or a book, its value and reliability is increased tenfold.

Once you have won your reader's confidence (and their hearts) with your article's unique information and persuasive style, you can inject some subtle pitches for the sale of your product.

It’s all in the style and approach. Follow a personalized one-to-one approach and give your reader the big picture.
